Oldham Chronicles our success

Monarch medals
TY-GA Monarch Jujitsu Club struck gold at the Ty-Ga World Open Championships at the ExCel Arena in London.
Angela Clough and Sensei John Foster were crowned champions at the contest which featured 350 competitors.
Clough struck gold in the women's lightweight sparring and also claimed silver in the demonstration with Tashi Sensie Mike Ashton.
Foster led the way in the men's black belt veterans sparring section from club-mate Sensie Tony Greenwood, and the pair joined forces to pick up bronze in the demonstration.
Meanwhile, Dave Booth and Ken Vickers have earned their 4th Dans and Ashton has been promoted to 3rd Dan. They were all promoted by Grandmaster Gary Wasniewski, a 10th Dan.

Training and BBQ 5th August 2007

Well we had a great time!
Students from three local martial arts clubs, adults and children alike attended the training session on Sunday morning.  Three professors gave us the benefit of their experience. First up was Sensei Dave Booth, 3rd Dan, with weapons training, showing us the vigorous moves possible with the Jo staff. Next, Sensei Mike Ashton, 3rd Dan, being unpleasant with his kubutan - a stick a tenth the size but with just as much pain! To round us off Sensei Keith, national level karate, doing what karate is all about - open hand, without weapons.
Then the BBQ. Once again Keith Turner over-catered and we all waddled out! I particularly liked the minted-lamb burgers. Must get the recipe for that one.....
